Overview

Many analysts speak about future potential – but right now we are living one of history’s greatest megatrends. McKinsey, PWC, Roland Berger, the World Bank and many other opinion leaders all agree on one fact: some 3 billion people will be moving from the countryside into existing and newly built urban areas during this century. We have already witnessed the rise of megacities in China during the past two decades, where there are now 17 cities larger than Los Angeles, and there is more to come.

It’s called Urbanization – and there is a massive problem in matching the demand for new urban spaces with the limited supply of natural resources. Cleantech Building Materials plc is taking up the challenge to provide advanced technological solutions that will enable these urban areas to be built sustainably. The 2016 acquisition of Diamond Wood, and its exclusive license for the patented Accoya® Wood manufacturing process in the Chinese market and its commercial arrangements to produce and sell Accoya® Wood in the ASEAN markets perfectly fits this strategy.

The Accoya® Wood manufacturing process was developed by a cross-disciplined team of chemical and wood scientists in Holland to transform sustainably-grown pine wood into a new wood material that lasts longer than many of the world’s best known tropical hardwoods. It is particularly valued for wood flooring, decking, outdoor furniture, windows and doors.

Diamond Wood has already done a tremendous job of establishing relations with distributors and export manufacturers across the China and ASEAN regions. During the past years the Company has established Accoya® Wood as a premium wood product in reference sites, like the Shanghai Bund, McDonalds, Starbucks, a major American theme park in Hong Kong, and with many other discerning clients. Cleantech Building Materials will bring its financial and marketing experience to accelerate the growth of the Accoya® Wood business through this remarkable century of Urbanization.
